Carrer de Sants street is one of the main traditional shopping thoroughfares in the city of Barcelona. In a neighbourhood with so many shops, salespeople and frenetic trade, its central market had to live up to the area. The Sants Market by architect Pere Falqués i Urpí was opened in 1913. The building is considered to be an architectural gem worthy of admiration and a walk around it. It is a magnificent market with many centuries written into its walls. After much renovation work, it is now working at full capacity as a market where you can buy and taste high quality products. If the Boqueria is the king of markets, Sants might well be seen as the crown prince.
